Nearly 8 million Italians regularly care for a non-self-sufficient relative: three out of four are women, and 60% do so without any public or private support.

In Italy over 1 million single-parent families have at least one child under 20; in 95% of cases the parent is the mother, and 41.3% of these mothers are at risk of poverty or social exclusion.

Woman has always had two wombs: one biological, and one symbolic — the household she is asked, every day, to regenerate for others.
